Security License a permit to work

Security is a major concern for individual and companies due to increasing criminal activities in our society. Therefore demand of qualified security guard is rising. If you are 18 years old, a citizen of the United States of America or a legal resident of America, you have a permanent residential address, you have no criminal history, you are mentally fit and you are not drug addiction; you have right to get a security license and get a job as a security guard.

Before applying for a security license, you need to complete a 40 hours professional training session from a security school by a security officer who is authorized by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Florida. Or you can submit an application after completion of successful training of 24 hours under a licensed trainer. You need to complete rest 16 hours of training within 180 days from the submission day of application. 

After completion of successful training session, you will get certificate from the institute. The certificate is the proof of your training. You need to submit the certificate with your application. Passport style photograph will required. You have to submit a clear set of fingerprints on a fingerprint card provided by the authority.

You need to pay nominal charges for obtaining a security license for you. It is $45 for licensing fee and $42 for fingerprint car processing fee. You will cost $150 for getting the security training from a security company. Fees are payable by money order, cashier’s check or a company check only. You have to send fees to Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Above said process is applicable only for an unarmed security guard that is class “D” Security Officer License.

When you are looking for an armed security license, you need to obtain “G” armed Security License. After completion of “G” Security License course, a temporary “G” license can be obtained from the State of Florida. Before that, you have to complete firearms training from a security training school. Not only that, you have to pass out a course of psychological and physical exam. You will learn about firearms safety and mechanics, civil liabilities and use of force issues, handgun marksmanship, care and maintenance of firearms, and related other armed security training topics. 

For “g” security license, the applicant must be at least 21 years old, no disqualifying criminal history, legal permit to work in United States. The licensing authority will charge money to deliver a license. A “D” security is a must for obtaining a “G” security license.
